We are currently recruiting a Finance Assistant on a fixed term contract for 10 months beginning May 2019.

Job Purpose

You will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the Finance Department and assist in the financial management of the organisation as a whole. You will report to The Executive Finance Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertaking and managing all aspects of the weekly and monthly payroll along with making associated HMRC, Pension and other related payments
  • Processing of purchase invoices and sales invoices along with the relevant creditor and debtor control
  • Cash counting, balancing and posting various income streams
  • Making supplier and ad hoc payments
  • Reconciling imprest systems including petty cash, floats, advances and ATM
  • Arranging change orders as required with the bank
  • Undertaking, reconciling and posting the Company Credit Card(s) statements
  • Assisting in the preparation of various returns such as PRS, Gift Aid, Friends Memberships, PAYE/NI and VAT
  • Reconciling the relevant Payroll Balance Sheet accounts
  • Undertaking all tasks for new starters and leavers
  • Assisting with month end procedures including accruals and prepayments
  • Processing expenses in line with the company expenses policy
  • Undertaking other general duties as determined by the Executive Finance Manager or Executive Director

Skills Required

  • Previous experience in a similar role, particularly payroll
  • Ability to maintain a professional and confident approach
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office and Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Experience of Pegasus Opera 3 software is desirable
  • Knowledge of the Arts and Charity sector would be advantageous

Benefits

Salary £20,000 – £22,500 pa DOE
