Pitlochry Festival Theatre (PFT) is a vibrant, thriving and ambitious cultural organisation (Scottish Charity Number SC013055). It is Scotland’s most significant rurally-based theatre producing more of its own work than any other Scottish theatre. In addition, it mounts a mixed lyric programme of music, opera and dance, its Winter Words programme and other festival activities. It operates a restaurant, bars, shop and a seven-acre botanical garden. This combination enables PFT to deliver a year-round cultural tourism offer which attracts high volume audiences from across Scotland, the UK and overseas.
Its Board of Trustees is crucial in providing PFT with a strategic framework to achieve impact, diversity and growth. The Board has started a strategic journey towards a capital and creative development programme called Vision 2021, designed significantly to improve the facilities, ambitions and reach of PFT in the future.
PFT is looking for an individual of high calibre and standing to join the Board.
All PFT Trustees serve in a voluntary capacity and are appointed for terms of three years. Each Trustee has a genuine and rewarding opportunity to contribute to debate and discussion which informs and shapes PFT’s future strategy and direction. There are usually five Board meetings each year, with additional sessions as required, as well as opportunities to attend the theatre especially at Opening Nights and at Supporters’ events. The Board has three main sub-committees – Finance; Development; and Internal Audit & Review. A full induction for new Trustees is provided.
At this time, PFT is specifically looking for applicants who have expertise in creative leadership, artistic planning, and/or leadership and management experience within the performing arts and who, ideally in addition, have already had experience in trusteeship or leadership of a non-profit-distributing organisation, preferably in the cultural sector.
