What We Do

Our performances are just the beginning!

Two lines of people all facing one singular person who is addressing them, they are all wearing back and standing on a stage with several microphones in front of them.

We’re more than a theatre.

For over 70 years, we’ve been Highland Perthshire’s artistic heart and soul, sitting perched on the edge of the River Tummel and looking out to Ben-y-Vrackie, the spectacular ‘Speckled Mountain’.

Now attracting over 100,000 visitors each year, we’re not just a venue. We’re famous for producing large-scale plays and musicals that delight theatregoers of all ages. International-standard performances featuring award winning artists, writers and directors, and outstanding set and costume designs all combine to bring audiences to their feet.

Create your own festival

An evening or afternoon attending a show at Pitlochry Festival Theatre is a special event. Our summer seasons are renowned, a series of four quite different shows played in rotation in the Auditorium, two shows in the Studio and two in the Amphitheatre in the Explorers Garden. You can take in a new show each day – and often two on the same day. It makes for a wonderful visit, a mini festival of theatre interspersed with sightseeing in the spectacular surrounding countryside (not to mention the other delights of Pitlochry, such as walking, shopping, fishing, golf, dining…).

Autumnal colours, festive fun

After the bustle of summer, autumn is time to take in the magical colours that Perthshire is well known for. Our year-round programme of tours, workshops, concerts, talks and other events continues, and culminates in our hugely popular festive musical in November and December – previous audience favourites include White Christmas, Scrooge!, Miracle On 34th Street, Singin’ In The Rain and most recently Sunshine on Leith.

The Studio

Our new Studio space provides the opportunity to showcase innovative works from up and coming playwrights in an intimate setting.

We love our theatrical home – if you’ve not visited yet, drop by and say hello, and you’ll see why.

Time to breathe

As you browse our website, we invite you to take a few minutes to stop, rest and enjoy a story.
