Poppy Seed Heads by Agnes Sutherland

Agnes has always had an interest in art and craft work which she promoted as a Primary School Teacher. Once retired, Agnes extended her skills by completing accredited courses in acrylic  and watercolour painting at Strathclyde University’s Life-long Learning Classes. Agnes enjoys silk painting. Working with this exciting  medium and its vibrant colours, especially the looseness of style delivered by Batik techniques, further enriches the interaction of colour. The real fascination comes when the wax is finally removed, giving the satisfaction of seeing the culmination of this multi-stage process. Agnes has exhibited in the Lillie Gallery with Milngavie and Bearsden Art Clubs. She is also an artist member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists. Agnes has had work accepted for the Paisley Art Institute’s Annual Exhibitions. As a member of the Batik Guild, she has also exhibited in Glasgow and at Resipole  Studios, Ardnamurchan. She also offers ‘taster sessions’ and workshops in silk painting and batik.
