Autumn / Winter 2022

Peter Pan, Wendy and the Darling children flying across the nights sky.

After a great summer season, which featured work across our three platforms – Inside, Outside and Online, we’re very excited to share our autumn/winter programme with you.

We have a diverse selection of productions for you to enjoy; there are shows to make you laugh and entertain you, as well as thought-provoking work providing an opportunity to explore important issues and big ideas. We continue to work hard to share Pitlochry with the world and the world with Pitlochry so both our autumn productions will go on tour after playing here.

We begin with Shirley Valentine, a much-loved comedy by Willy Russell, which is being presented in association with An Tobar and Mull Theatre touring Mull and Iona in November. We then premiere Enough Of Him, a co-production with National Theatre of Scotland, in our new Studio Theatre before it goes on a countrywide tour. This vital new play by May Sumbwanyambe, based on a true story, is an investigation into power and the inescapable challenges of navigating a world of brutality.

For our festive production, we are making J. M. Barrie’s classic magical story, Peter Pan and Wendy adapted by Janys Chambers in our main Auditorium. We are so looking forward to flying to Neverland and delighting people of all ages with this specially commissioned new show for Pitlochry audiences.

As well as our productions, the Theatre’s literature festival, Winter Words, returns in February for in-person Inside events as well as continuing to engage audiences Online. We will also be announcing season three of the Online Soundstage series, produced in partnership with two leading touring companies, Stockroom Theatre Company and Firebrand Theatre Company, sharing Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s work even further afield with international audiences too.

We are also launching a new series of participation programmes for children, young people and adults, as well as continuing to make work in our Perth & Kinross communities. If you can’t get to us, we will come to you!

Finally, we just wanted to finish by saying a huge thank you for your continued support. We really hope to welcome you to the Theatre in Pitlochry, whether that be taking part in a participation activity or as an artist making work or as an audience member experiencing one of our many home grown productions.

We’ve loved welcoming audiences back Inside this year and here’s to the future with even more shared experiences together.
