David-Smith_Auchmithie-harbourDAVID SMITH “Born in 1949 in Glasgow, Scotland, I attended school in Dundee and in 1973 I started to study  painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of art in Dundee, graduating in 1977, with a D.A., then went on to take a Dip.Ed. Course, also in Dundee. I taught art in Secondary schools in Tayside for many years, the last eleven years at Perth Academy, before taking early retirement in 2002 for health reasons. During these years, I kept up my own painting skills, taking part in many exhibitions, and have paintings in private collections in Britain and also in Germany, South Africa and Australia. After retiring I concentrated for some years on painting for the American print market, but in more recent years have returned to my first love of painting, in an impressionist style, British landscapes and seascapes with oils, and now paint full time from home in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. Throughout the last thirty years, although I have painted still life and figure, landscape has been my passion,  in particular, anything with water – rivers, lakes, ponds, sea.”
