Donald Mullen grew up in Wimbledon and read chemistry at King’s College London (BSc Hons) followed by a PhD at St Andrews where he drew and painted in his spare time. After a career as a research scientist in Switzerland and Germany, and on returning to the UK and setting up a technical translation business, Donald continued to pursue art in his spare time and from 1995 attended evening classes. On retiring he attended oil painting classes and residential courses in France (en plein air). Donald has attended workshops at PFT with Jim Murdoch and Kate Kirby and is a member of a local art club run by Dee Bowman. He has also exhibited locally and won the Frank Martin award in 2015.
