Edinburgh National Partnership 2024

Man jumping through the air

Òran

Combining spoken word, lyrical storytelling and a pulsating electronic live score, this is the thrilling story of Òran and his journey to rescue his best friend from the Underworld. Should he arrive there, Hades might grant him the chance to lead his friend home…but at what cost?

This visceral piece of contemporary theatre is a collaboration between Wonder Fools, ‘one of Scotland’s most exciting new companies’ (Scotsman) and the acclaimed hip-hop artist Owen Sutcliffe in partnership with Pitlochry Festival Theatre & Pleasance Theatre with music by VanIves, creating an urgent and entertaining modern retelling of the classic Greek myth Orpheus.

Edinburgh National Partnerships Programme 2024

Pitlochry Festival Theatre is delighted to be working with the Pleasance Theatre as part of their Edinburgh National Partnerships programme to support one Scottish artist or company who wants to take work to Edinburgh Fringe in 2024.

The Pleasance is working with partner theatres across the UK to identify and support exceptional artists and companies local to them who want to take work to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Each partner is a leading national producing house, with a commitment to supporting and developing new artists.

For 2024, Pitlochry Festival Theatre is delighted to be one of the partner organisations alongside York Theatre Royal, Bristol Old Vic, Leicester Curve, Manchester HOME, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Eden Court Inverness, Sherman Theatre Cardiff and Lyric Belfast.

Following on from supporting three wonderful Scottish artists, Lila Clements (Look No Hands) in 2021, Eve Nicol (Svengali) in 2022, Glenna Morrison  (Guffy) in 2023, we will be working with The Pleasance and Wonderfools to present Òran at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
