Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham due back at Pitlochry

Following their concert postponement earlier in the Summer, Pitlochry favourites, Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, return to Pitlochry Festival Theatre on Sunday, 27 October, 8pm.

The theatre is very pleased to announce, following Aly’s triple bypass heart surgery - of which thankfully, diagnosis and treatment were speedy - and a lengthy recuperation process, Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham, perhaps the most famous export from the Scottish music scene, are back!

Now something of a national institution, having regularly played to sold-out performances all over the world (and at Pitlochry Festival Theatre), Aly and Phil’s hotly anticipated Summer Tour arrives at the end of October - it may be Autumn, but it’s never too late to welcome Aly and Phil!

Widely regarded as one of the most exciting and innovative accordion players of the time, Phil Cunningham has taken his performance from strength to strength and now works extensively in television and film as a composer, musical director and presenter.

Aly Bain is Scotland’s supreme traditional-style fiddler, beginning his days playing with the famous, Boys Of The Lough, in addition to his solo albums, he has appeared on albums by Hue and Cry, Eddie Reader, Richard Thomson and Fish. His musical style is unique, with vibrant, unmistakable tones, earning him fans worldwide.

Having toured and recorded together since 1988, Aly and Phil’s dedication to their music has earned them both the title of Dr and the honour of an MBE and more than 25 years on, they are filling, not only small village halls, but all of our major performance venues.

Expect startling fiddle and accordion musicianship, combining for a concert performance that is the epitome of excellence in the world of traditional music, as well as delighting audiences with quick-witted, inter-tune banter.
