Banff Film Festival Early at Pitlochry in 2020

The world’s most prestigious mountain film festival returns to Pitlochry Festival Theatre on Saturday, 18 January – two weeks earlier than the usual time - with two different screenings of extraordinary, action-packed collections of short films, 2pm and 7pm – a must-see for anyone with a spirit of adventure!

Banff Mountain Film Festival has sold out both screenings for a number of years, well ahead of the event, and this year, returning with two new programmes of adrenaline-fuelled, extreme action sports and stunning scenery from around the globe, looks set to be the same.

Full programme details will be unveiled early in January, but we can reveal that 2020’s brand new selections will include The Ladakh Project, starring French athlete Nouria Newman as she embarks on a 375km solo kayaking expedition down northern India’s most remote and most daunting rivers.

There’s also The Imaginary Line where, in an act of political solidarity, a team from Mexico and the USA come together to set up a slackline across border between them. In troubled times, they hope the highline will symbolise something bigger, and create a positive shift in the world.

The UK tour is part of the wider Banff World Tour, which travels the globe reaching more than 400,000 people worldwide. Films are selected from hundreds entered into the Banff Mountain Film Festival, which takes place every November in Canada’s Rocky Mountains.

Audiences will embark on a thrilling adventure with the world’s best adventure film-makers and cross-globe explorers. Witness epic human-powered feats, life-affirming challenges and mind-blowing cinematography – all on the big screen!

As well as thrilling films, each event also features a free prize draw for exciting outdoorsy goodies from the Tour Partners. And if ‘outdoorsy’ speaks to you, there are a number of events during Pitlochry's Winter Words Festival in February that will be just right for you too.

Guaranteed to ignite your passion for adventure, action and travel, both Banff screenings have limited availability – book now to avoid disappointment! Call the Box Office team on 01796 484626 or click here to  book online
