Blazin’ Hot Award-Winning Fiddlers Return To Pitlochry

Scotland’s most celebrated fiddle band, Blazin’ Fiddles will join together with twice-voted ‘Scots Singer of the Year’ Emily Smith for a special, Scottish tour stopping off for one-night-only at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Sunday 18 August, 8.00pm.

And they are Blazin’! In the past decade no other band has quite captured Scottish fiddle music’s variety, energy and sensitivity like Blazin’ Fiddles have. An elite group of the hottest contemporary fiddle players from the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, mixed with piano and guitar arrangements, Blazin’ Fiddles have played everything from BBC Proms at The Royal Albert Hall to the Village Halls on the Isles of Scotland!

They are joined by celebrated Scots Trad singer, Emily Smith. As a soloist, she has released seven albums, played on BBC Radio 2, Transatlantic Sessions, BBC Songs of Praise, BBC Radio 2’s Good Morning Sunday and the Bob Harris Show. During her career Emily has been named BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year, twice voted ‘Scots Singer of the Year’ at the Scots Trad Music Awards and received two nominations for a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award.

Like rare single malts, each member of Blazin’ Fiddles draws the distinct flavour of music from their part of the Highlands and Islands. Blending solo and ensemble sets, they come together in a fiery blend.

Expect distinct musical melodies peppered with the occasional insightful tale, for a truly different evening of intoxicating contemporary folk music, from Inverness’ Bruce MacGregor, Shetlander Jenna Reid, Nairn’s Rua Macmillan, and Orcadian Kristan Harvey, together with guitar and piano from Anna Massie and Angus Lyon, in yet another storming set.
