Blues Brothers bring the party to Pitlochry

For an adrenaline-pumping musical mash-up, Pitlochry Festival Theatre is the place to be this Sunday, 8 July, 8pm!  In tune with Pitlochry’s flagship musical this Season, the award-winning Chicago Blues Brothers are all set to take the stage by storm with the ‘non-stop-party’ vibe of the iconic movies, bringing all the sound and energy that propelled the films to cult status.

The world’s leading tribute to the legendary Blues Brothers, Sunday’s Back-in-Black show is packed with over two hours of the greatest blues, Motown and soul songs from both Blues Brothers movies from 1980 and 1998.

Back-in-Black stars Chris Hindle as Joliet Jake Blues, and Gareth Davey as Elwood Blues, joined onstage by a top live band, a kick-ass brass section and backup vocalists, not to mention an all-new elaborate Blues Brothers-style set, lights and totally rock ‘n’ roll design. Complete, of course, with trademark shades!

Chris trained at the De Costa Academy of Singing in York; a natural tenor and performer, he was able to hit the high notes required of Italian opera with ease but his musical passion laid elsewhere. In John Belushi’s role of Joliet Jake Blues, Chris has truly found his calling.  Award-winning vocalist Gareth ‘Elwood’ Davey was a well-established solo artist before joining The Chicago Blues Brothers.  From deep bluesy bass vocals to sweet soulful falsetto, Gareth possesses a rare vocal range that perfectly suits his role as Elwood Blues, the role originally performed by Dan Aykroyd.  Chris and Gareth are both professional wind-up artists and enjoy playing tricks on everyone in the band (and members of the public).

The high-octane show is jam-packed full of more than 40 songs by legends such as Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Otis Redding, The Temptations, Ray Charles, Tina Turner, Cab Calloway – plus many others. The show won the National Tribute Award and regularly thrills audiences across the UK and internationally with its unique take on the Blues Brothers legend.

The Chicago Blues Brothers is full-on entertainment, capturing the essence, humour and characters that propelled John Landis’ classic 1980 film to worldwide fame. Let ‘Jake’ and ‘Ellwood’ take you back to 1980 to finish their show at the Palace Ballroom Hotel – the Chicago location where the original Blues Brothers were booked for their first major gig.

Become part of cinematic history - sing along, dance in the aisles and bring on the party!
