Daughter of Legendary Jazz Artist Performs For One Night Only

The daughter of legendary jazz musician John Dankworth and singer Cleo Laine, Jacqui Dankworth, performs live in Pitlochry for one night only with her pianist husband – the acclaimed Charlie Wood – this Friday 7 April (7.30pm) for a night of blistering vocals, sweet harmonies and fitting tributes to some of the greatest jazz and swing vocalists of all time.

With a wealth of experience, Jacqui’s previous shows include a guest appearance on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night, BBC Big Band, Liverpool Philharmonic, Into The Woods (on London’s West End) and has appeared on BBC Breakfast and The Paul O’Grady Show.

Inspired by some of the great musical partnerships, such as Ray Charles and Betty Carter, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, George and Ira Gershwin, Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway and James Taylor and Carole King, this concert features numbers including Alone Together, Autumn In New York, It Doesn’t Mean A Thing, A Foggy Day, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, You’ve Got A Friend and other favourites.

The musical pair will be joined by jazz bassist extraordinaire Oli Hayhurst, who will add the light, driving rhythmic pulse to Charlie’s gentle melodies. He has worked with many well-known names in the music scene, such as Melanie C, Bob Monkhouse and Alan Broadbent.
