Mini Gene Kellys and Donald O’Connors hoof it up at PFT

A troupe of six talented youngsters joins the clan at Pitlochry Festival Theatre for the Christmas extravaganza, Singin’ In The Rain this December, taking the full cast complement up to 21. Opening Friday 1 December, the six performers take on the roles of a young Don Lockwood and Cosmo Brown, the grown-up versions unforgettably played by Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor in the iconic Hollywood movie.

Five of the young actors return to Pitlochry, following previous experience in the theatre’s acclaimed Christmas spectaculars. Alastair MacDonald and Danny Burns trod the boards amongst a wider cast of children last year, during the fabulous, festive musical hit, Scrooge! In 2014, Rory Stanger, Lewis Byiers and Nathan Hunter witnessed a Miracle On 34th Street direct from the stage.

New addition to make up this spirited six-pack, Luka Barrie, from Pitlochry, follows in his sister, Eden’s footsteps, who performed, both in Sleeping Beauty in 2011 and as Susan Waverley in White Christmas in 2012. So, it seems Pitlochry Festival Theatre is in the family blood!

Rehearsals for Singin’ In The Rain are now reaching a climax as they transfer to the stage, with anticipation soaring as opening night fast approaches. The young team (pictured) is made up of three dynamic duos who will play in rotation.
