Mountain Cafe to visit Winter Words festival

It’s one of Scotland’s best-loved cafés, having earned its stripes as the place for locals, tourists, climbers, bikers and skiers to eat in Aviemore, and now The Mountain Café is sharing the secrets of its favourite dishes in its new, debut cookery book.

Kiwi-born, culinary genius Kirsten Gilmour and owner of The Mountain Café brings her New Zealand influence to the forefront when it comes to creating dishes and she will be sharing some of her amazing delights at Pitlochry Festival Theatre (PFT) on Sunday 19th February at 2.30pm as part of the Winter Words festival.

Live on the PFT stage, in conversation with Dan Holland, Kirsten will reveal her fascinating story – from her upbringing and initial cooking inspiration, right through to how she set herself up in Aviemore running one of the most popular Highland cafés.

As part of the event, Kirsten will bake cardamom chocolate muffins and will be handing out tasters, alongside Anzac cookies, brownies and blueberry lime cake.

Don’t forget to get your hands on a copy of the cookbook from Kirsten and get it signed on the day! Featuring over 130 mouth-watering recipes, including Sage Barbeque Chicken and Passionfruit Melting Moments, this book is certain to give you new ideas for your home cooking!
