New Season Programme Announced

Pitlochry Festival Theatre is pleased to announce details of its autumn, winter and spring programme.

There’s a diverse mix of musicals, touring dramas, comedies, family-friendly shows and music concerts to enjoy, inspire and entertain!

With record-breaking audience figures, the musical spectacular Chicago has been extended into the autumn. It will now have an additional 8 performances after the Summer Season closes, extending the run until 20th October. A last chance to catch this must-see, critically-acclaimed production which has become the Theatre’s best-selling show in their 67th year history.

This Christmas, click your heels and say – there’s no place like Pitlochry!  The popular Perthshire playhouse will performance the magical musical  The Wizard Of Oz. Alongside all the familiar Pitlochry trademarks (a stellar cast, large live band, stunning costumes and superbly crafted sets), audiences can expect amazing acrobatics and aerial artistry!

With all-time favourite songs - We’re Off To See The Wizard, Over The Rainbow, Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead, and of course, Follow The Yellow Brick Road, dreams of a very special seasonal family treat really will come true. If you like the iconic 1939 MGM film starring Judy Garland, you’ll love this magical musical! Book early in order to secure the best seats at the best prices. The Wizard Of Oz runs from 23 November to 23 December.

Citizens Theatre acclaimed production of the Shakespeare tragedy, The Macbeths (25 Oct) brings the audience to sit onto the Pitlochry stage, as the bard’s tale of a disintegrating marriage of a blood-soaked couple unfurls ‘in the round’.

Skipinnish make a welcome return (26 & 27 Oct), after their sell-out gig in April, while the magnificence of Hapsburg Vienna in Magical Mozart By Candlelight (2 Nov). There’s also an exclusive concert performance by one of Scotland’s finest songwriters, Deacon Blue’s Ricky Ross (3 Nov) – not to be missed.

In the New Year, the unique Winter Words Festival gets Scotland’s literary year into gear (14-17 Feb). The 2019 programme is still under wraps however, the Banff Mountain Film Festival will return (2 Feb) with two different screenings of an exhilarating dose of adrenaline-pumping extreme sport in breathtaking cinematography and stunning scenery - all on the big screen!

The Spring programme simply flourishes with new life in a fabulous array of first-time shows, including fun and larks with the Dad’s Army Radio Show (2 Mar), intrigue and mayhem from Owdyado Theatre’s Twisted Tales (14 Mar), plus oodles of music, from Abba tribute, Thank You For The Music (9 Mar), then Gary and Robbie drop in via Re-Take That (22 Mar), plus Sing-A-Long-A Grease (29 Mar), supergroup Capercaillie’s Karen Matheson (15 Mar), and there’s an evening with acclaimed elephant conservationist, Saba Douglas-Hamilton (19 Apr)… and even more!

Families and children can continue to look forward to events especially for them, with Eaten (7 Oct) and Lionel the Lion; W-Hat About? (4 Nov) celebrating family in a touching tale of loss and love; Four Go Wild in Wellies (9 Mar) and, starting in January, Toddler & Baby Dance - a monthly class on Thursdays, for little ones and their carers.
