Pitlochry Christmas extended by popular demand

The Magic of Christmas, Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s WONDER-filled, outdoor Christmas experience - joint venture with ONFife - has zoomed past all expectations in ticket sales! So much so, performances have been extended for a further 3 days, 21-23 DECEMBER.

Opening 27 November on the theatre’s 11-acre campus, this is the première of a new Christmas tradition for Pitlochry, suitable for the entire family. Importantly, it has been carefully designed to be a safe, socially-distanced, relaxed experience, accessible for all. With affordable prices and limited availability, tickets have flown out!

Kris Bryce, Executive Director at the theatre told us:

“We’ve been thrilled with the response to The Magic of Christmas and, due to popular demand, are delighted to offer a further three days of 'Magic' for our audiences to enjoy.

“We’re looking forward to bringing some Christmas cheer at the end of a challenging year.”

The first on-site entertainment since March

The Magic of Christmas is the first opportunity, since the building had to close its doors in the March lockdown, that the theatre has been able to provide on-site entertainment. And for the first time, the show takes place in walking, or ‘promenade’, format, fully outdoors in the Explorers’ Garden.

A unique, sparkling and magical adventure to remember, the creative team promise it will be brimming with story, music and surprise, in a fully interactive, audio-visual journey to captivate all the senses.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Artistic Director, Elizabeth Newman, explained:

Christmas joy is going to be more important than ever this year. That was the inspiration for our first in-person event since we went into lockdown. Starting with safety and social-distancing, we were determined to create the escape to new theatrical worlds that we all need right now.

“We’re so thrilled with the response, to put on extra dates, and most of all, to welcome audiences back with us on site at last! After such an unimaginable, difficult year for everyone, we will make sure all our visitors are safe, and have the most magical time.”

Departures will take place throughout the day and evening, in small groups.

Audiences will journey through the magical garden, stepping through a super-sized Advent Calendar, drop in on Santa and Mrs Clause – with a gift for each child, generously donated by The House of Bruar. Then take a trip into space, through the light and sound Festive Space Galaxy!

Cleansing and COVID-19 protection measures will be extensive and rigorous: including a marshalled one-way system, a separate entrance and exit, small socially-distanced groups, a cash-less event, hand sanitiser throughout the experience, and appropriate, themed PPE for all staff.

NEW TICKETS RELEASE will be on sale from 10 am Thursday, 22 October.

Prices from just £8. Spaces are limited.
