Pitlochry Festival Theatre Highlights Opera

Having embarked on a mission of operatic proportions, Scottish Opera arrive at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, this Thursday evening, 8 March, 7.30pm. With four talented young singers and an accomplished pianist, Opera Highlights is travelling the length and breadth of the country to bring an evening of magnificent music, woven together with an intriguing backstage story of life on the operatic road!

Packing their bags full of props and costumes – and favourite musical scores - baritone Benjamin Lewis, tenor William Morgan, soprano Maire Flavin and mezzo Catherine Backhouse, present an unforgettable night at the opera, through a glimpse behind the scenes that follows the twists and turns of two stage managers dealing with the outrageous demands of their opera stars.

Audience members, both opera-lovers and newcomers, have been acclaiming the tour to-date, with outstanding reviews:

“I always expect the highest possible quality from Scottish Opera and this show was no exception. The fantastic story by Jack Furness brought all the arias together in a wonderful evening’s entertainment. Four fabulous singers and pianist really brought the show to life. The time whizzed by…  it was engaging from the first note to the last.”

“The four singers and the pianist were all excellent, and the design and production of the show were wonderful.  The choice of excerpts struck a splendid balance between old and not so old, and between well-known and not-so-well-known. All in all, a very enjoyable introduction to Opera for me.”

... as well as a four star review from The Herald.

Opera Highlights’ concert programme includes favourites from Rossini’s Barber Of Seville, Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte and Bernstein’s Candide, alongside some lesser known treasures and new work by Scottish Opera’s Composer in Residence, Samuel Bordoli, all in a scripted production by Director Jack Furness. This performance has something for everyone, from opera first-timers to seasoned fans.

Join us for a guaranteed great night of music, laughter and good company!
