Pitlochry Festival Theatre wins Scotland’s Most Welcoming Theatre award

UK Theatre – the umbrella organisation for theatre producers and venues throughout the UK – has just announced the 12 regional and national winners of the Most Welcoming Theatre Award.

And after weeks of voting by the general public, Pitlochry Festival Theatre (PFT) has been announced as the National Winner for Scotland in the Most Welcoming Theatre Award 2018 - for the fourth year in a row!

Of the 200 UK theatres who entered the competition, 12 were from Scotland, including Dundee Rep, the Royal Lyceum, the Citizens, the Kings Theatre – both Edinburgh and Glasgow - as well as the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh, and the Theatre Royal, Glasgow.

Kris Bryce, Executive Director of Pitlochry Festival Theatre stated:

“We are at a very exciting point in our history as we seek to implement our ambitious plans to provide an even greater cultural offering for tourists and locals alike. Expanding the breadth and depth of our reach as well as enhancing cultural tourism in the rural heart of Scotland is also good news for the local economy as we contribute a huge return on investment from public funds (note 1) – in that for every public £1 invested, PFT returns up to £20.

This award duly recognises the brilliant staff who work in our Front Of House, Bar, Restaurant, Shop and Box Office to deliver consistently high levels of customer service, ensuring everyone receives the warmest of welcomes. They deserve all the credit for winning this title for a fourth time: I heartily congratulate them and thank them for dedication, energy and passion.”

The UK Theatre Awards are the only nationwide awards to honour creative excellence and the outstanding achievement seen on and off stage throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. PFT will now join 11 other finalists to fight it out for the UK-wide award, which will be announced at the awards ceremony in London on Sunday 14th October.
