Pitlochry Hosts BBC TV’s Breaking The News

Pitlochry Festival Theatre is excited to be hosting Breaking the News, the multi-award winning topical comedy panel show, which will be filming there next Thursday, 7 November 3pm, in the auditorium. Tickets are FREE and can be reserved on the BBC website here.

Please note they cannot be booked through the theatre Box Office.

Comedian Des Clarke has been hosting Breaking the News throughout its meteoric rise to a 14th series on BBC Radio Scotland and he’ll be back in the hot seat for this second TV series, a new 10-episode run on BBC Scotland.

Along with an array of comedy talent, for this series Des will have the constant company of another of the country’s top comedians, Jim Smith as a weekly panellist, taking a satirical swipe at the big stories and the people making headlines in Scotland and beyond.

Jim, who is still a working farmer in Perthshire, said: "I think Des and the team are reaping what they’ve sown. They were good enough to invite me on a few times - but I’ve enjoyed it so much I’ve decided to stay! It’s a great show and I can’t wait to get started."

Des added: “With Jim’s help I think we can tackle the two biggest mysteries for me, Brexit and how do you milk a cow?”

Theatre Head of Customer Experience, Emma Stewart commented: “The theatre is the perfect venue, being so centrally located and accessible just off the A9, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming the BBC into the theatre, hosting the TV recording and watching top comedians and commentators take on the week’s news in Scotland and around the world.”

Guests in the series will include comedians Jo Caulfield, Raymond Mearns, Ashley Storrie, Mark Nelson and Judy Murray but there’s no news on who will be appearing in Pitlochry!
