Pitlochry School Christmas Carol Poster Competition Winners!

Pitlochry Festival Theatre enlisted the help of young designers from Pitlochry Primary School to create wonderfully colourful and striking posters for the much-anticipated, festive show, A Christmas Carol, which opened Thursday, 21 November.

The children, all 7 and 8 year-olds, in P4, either individually or in pairs, were asked to design a poster for the iconic and much-loved Christmas story with the winning entries to be displayed in the Pitlochry theatre foyer.

Class teacher, Miranda Barrie told us:

“Our children enjoyed watching and getting to understand the story through the Jim Carey film, and Muppets Christmas Carol, and were excited that they would be judged by the marketing team. And especially that the top three - first Anna Hayes, joint second Robert Tait and Vihaan Sharma who worked together, and Margaret Lemanska; and third Edy Marici and James Mackie - displayed in the theatre itself."

Associate Director, Amy Liptrott, explained:

“The theatre’s marketing department blind-judged the posters from a wonderfully array of entries. All of them were initially displayed in the theatre’s Port Na Craig rehearsal rooms, as the cast launched into rehearsals and got to grips with their characters. The joy of the school-children drew the cast into their journey into Christmas Past, Present and Future!”

Make sure you come out of the cold and grey of Scrooge’s miserly material life this Season and join the children in embracing the greatest of Christmas messages in one of the best-loved yuletide stories of all time, on the stage.
