This weekend: Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music!

This Sunday, 5 August, 6.30pm we are hosting a special screening of the iconic, best-loved movie, The Sound Of Music. But this is a screening with a difference. . . Let’s start at the very beginning (a very good place to start)…

With the lyrics shown on-screen get ready to sing your heart out with Julie Andrews. Christopher Plummer, the little Von Trapps and the rest of the audience, to all those well-known songs – all together! There’s even a free prop bag you’ll be guided to use through the movie. Do you know how to solve a problem like Maria? Are you Sixteen Going On Seventeen? (or 60 going on 70?) Are you ready to Climb Every Mountain?

Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music begins with a live show in which the host will lead the audience through a vocal warm-up, judge the fancy dress competition and award prizes. Fancy dress is only if you ‘fancy it’ but if it’s not for you, it’s great fun to see the inventiveness on display: previous events have seen Nuns (both boys and girls), girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, a plumber (as in Christopher ‘Plumber’), a lonely goatherd, even ‘The Hills’, whiskers on kittens and brown paper packages tied up with string!

The host will then take the audience through the prop bag and suggest some appropriate heckles and accompanying actions (such as hissing the Countess, barking at Rolf and, of course, cheering for Julie). Then, sit back and watch the original 1965 movie in glorious Technicolor (™) as the audience, takes over as the stars of the show.

So it’s, So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehn, Adieu – until August 5th when it’s time to break out your dirndl, strap on your lederhosen or whimple, or get your curtains down and whip up a new dress.

If you remember being taken to see the movie when it first came out, have watched as a family for years, with your children or grandchildren, make sure you don’t miss this fun-packed and nostalgic Sunday evening. Call PFT’s Box Office team on 01796 484 626 or buy here online now >>
