Unique Improvisation Workshop Opportunity

There’s a unique and rare chance to get interactive with PFT’s new Associate Director, Gemma Fairlie, as she leads an Improvisation and Dialogue Workshop, Friday 16 February, 6.30pm – 8.00pm at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

Gemma has a wealth of expertise accrued in a career that includes performances and shows with the Royal Shakespeare Company and at the Royal Court, the New Vic and National Theatres.

Gemma, who has used improvisation techniques throughout her career, explained, “Participants won’t need any previous experience, you’ll just need to bring your imagination and a sense of playfulness - although, improvisation is not just about being funny. We’ll be exploring how the games and rules of improvisation can be used to generate dialogue, create character, build worlds and inspire stories, with an emphasis on teamwork.”

Based on techniques of the British and Canadian pioneer of improvisational theatre, Keith Johnstone, whose system of training has been influencing traditional theatre practice for over 50 years, and Gemma’s own wide-ranging experience, directing the highly successful Improverts in Edinburgh, this practical workshop is perfect for all actors and directors whatever their experience, interest or stage in their career.

Places are limited, and you can secure yours by calling PFT’s Box Office team on 01796 484626 or click here to book online.

This workshop is part of the 14th Winter Words Festival which includes a programme of ‘Creative Learning’ workshops as well as other events for all ages. The festival runs from 2nd to 18th February at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
