Winners of Leon Sinden Awards are…

The winners of Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s 25th annual Leon Sinden Awards were announced on Saturday, 28th September.

Audiences and visitors throughout the theatre’s Summer Season have been placing their votes for Best Actor and Actress in a Supporting Role, and the annual awards were presented onstage after the final performance, in the full six-show Season, of Summer Holiday, at the Theatre on Saturday night, ahead of an extra week of the musical due to popular demand.

This year’s winner of Best Supporting Actress was Fiona Wood for her portrayal of Lily, the ukelele-playing Nun in Blonde Bombshells of 1943, and David Rankine picked up the award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Eddie, the nice-but-dim ‘maid’, in Blithe Spirit.

Artistic Director, Elizabeth Newman presented both actors with their awards.

Next Pitlochry production to open (17 October) is the Brian Friel tender masterpiece, Faith Healer, already well into rehearsals, with George Costigan (Gentleman Jack, Line of Duty, Happy Valley, Rita, Sue and Bob Too, Shirley Valentine) Richard Standing (Coronation Street, Holby City, Silent Witness, Doctors) and Kirsty Stuart (Shetland, Outlander, The Duchess of Malfi, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh and Citizens, Glasgow). Then their famed festive musical, this year, A Christmas Carol, follows swiftly on its heels.
