Young cast banish ‘Bah Humbug!’ from Pitlochry Christmas

Pitlochry Festival Theatre reveal an incredibly talented young cast will, this year, be taking central parts in A Christmas Carol, along with the professional company.

Luka Barrie, Joely Fuge , Lucy Birkett, Phoebe-Rose Pirie, Mylo Scott, Robyn Yarwood, Elise Brand, Chloe Bloice, Blair Cunningham, Anna Davidson, Leah Blackburn and Laurie Anne Scrimgeour - as three groups of four - will be performing two, three and even four roles, including the Ghost of Christmas Past, Young Scrooge, Martha, Peter and Belinda Cratchit, and of course, Tiny Tim.

We asked A Christmas Carol Director and Pitlochry Associate Director, Ben Occhipinti, How important it was to have young people in the show. He told us:

“I always love working with young people and in Pitlochry they play important roles. Victorian child poverty meant hard labour in workhouses, or fending for themselves on the streets, so young people are at the heart of the storytelling. It’s been brilliant to work with our team and their imaginations, to bring their characters alive.”

Perth-born acting legend, Colin McCredie - Pitlochry’s Scrooge - also praised the young cast:
“It’s superb to have some great, local, young people playing parts in the show. They’re just brilliantly talented - it’s great to see them take their place on the stage and as an important part of the company too.”

A Christmas Carol opens Friday, 21 November, 7pm and runs until 23 December.
