For most of Peter’s life he has been involved with ships and boats of all descriptions. Peter himself served in the Merchant Navy as a Marine Engineer. He has always been interested in model making and handicrafts since he was a youngster at school. Throughout his childhood in North Shields he was never too far away from the river Tyne, the fish quay, the docks and the sea. The local Tynemouth library gave him the opportunity to read many books about the sea, Villiers, Conrad, Danna, Slocum and many more. So it not surprising that Peter with his knowledge of ships decided to make models of some of the vessels associated with his life. More recently his interest in the history of the Clyde Puffer prompted him to make some models of them and also of some steam drifters; which were at one time the lifeline of the Scottish fishing industry. The models have been exhibited, initially in his gift shop in Argyll, the Fisheries Museum Anstruther, and Pitlochry Gallery. A total of 192 various models of cruise liners, yachts and cargo vessels, puffers and fishing boats have been made.
