Shortlisted Plays Performances: Thursday 15th February, 7.30pm
The Winning Play Announcement: Thursday 1st March
Please note that we are looking for plays that run at NO LONGER than 10 minutes.
The rules for these plays are as follows:
They cannot be
- plays that have already been produced elsewhere.
- adaptations, poems, novels, short stories, or television, film or radio scripts.
We can only accept one play per writer.
The writer must be resident in Scotland, although they do not have to be Scottish.
The stories can be about anything but we advise you to think about production limitations. The competition shortlist will be performed with very little technical support in a semi staged format. At this stage we are not looking for technically complicated plays or plays that require large set pieces. We are focused on the quality of the dialogue, the relationships in the piece and ultimately the story.
We are inviting submissions from writers at all stages of their career – however, to make the competition fair we request that the plays be submitted anonymously. Please remove your name and contact details from the script itself, and check that your play is clearly formatted, with page numbers, cast list and potential cast doubling noted before sending it to us. The plays will then be passed to our judging panel with no knowledge of the writer.
We can ONLY receive digital copies of your play sent to: PFTshortplay@pitlochryfestivaltheatre.com before 5pm on January 31st 2018. Please mark your email: “Short Play Competition” in the subject line of the email.
We will announce the shortlisted plays via our website and social media on Friday 9th Feb. The writers of the shortlisted plays will be contacted directly.
