First Time Visit?
We’re thrilled to welcome you to the Theatre in the Hills. One of the reasons why PFT is so popular is that we work really hard to ensure you receive a warm welcome and a great onstage experience.
We have put together the following information which we hope is helpful.
What should I wear?
There is no formal dress code to attend the theatre – whether you wear jeans or a dress is completely up to you, as long as you’re feeling comfortable.
What time do doors open?
You will be able to enter the auditorium, where the show takes place, about 30 minutes before the show begins. Before you do, you can enjoy the range of refreshments at our bar, browse the shop or enjoy a mouth-watering dinner in our Festival Restaurant.
What if I’m late?
If you arrive late for a performance, you will be allowed to enter the auditorium at an appropriate moment during the show or at the interval.
I’ve lost my tickets!
If you haven’t got your tickets with you, or they are lost, don’t worry – our Box Office is open until 8pm on performance days and our friendly team will be happy to assist you.
How long is the show?
Every play is different. Our Box Office can let you know the details for the performance you’re about to see, otherwise just ask any of the Front of House team.
How do I get there?
We are located adjacent to the A9, meaning we are easy to reach by car or coach, or bicycle. It is advised that plenty of time is given to travel, in case of delays. We have an on-site car park, with 250 spaces including disabled parking at the entrance. For directions and further information, please click here.
Pitlochry can also be reached by rail and is serviced by frequent local services as well as the main London to Inverness service and Caledonian Sleeper service. An up to date train timetable can be found here.

Where can I get food and drink?
We encourage you to enjoy the range of refreshments on offer at our bar before and after the show and during the interval. During the show, we ask that you refrain for rustling wrappers as it can be very distracting for our actors and the people around you. Our actors often enjoy a cold beverage post-show, so you may just bump into them!

Can I take photos?
The use of cameras or any recording equipment is prohibited in the auditorium. Save your phone battery for pictures of the beautiful landscape and surroundings that attracts many visitors here year after year!
Will there be any special effects?
Some of our performances use special effects, such as strobe lighting. Usually, warnings of such effects are displayed in the Theatre, but if in any doubt, ask a member of staff.
How far is the town centre from the Theatre?
The town centre of Pitlochry is only a ten minute walk from the Theatre, across the walk-bridge over the River Tummel or by using the public walkway over the Dam. There is a taxi service; it’s always advisable to book in advance. Call either 01796472290 or 0179647391
