A Streetcar Named Desire is one of the most critically acclaimed and extraordinary plays of the twentieth century. Ready yourselves for a sizzling night out.

After losing her family home and prosperous life, former southern belle Blanche Dubois moves into the shabby apartment of her younger sister Stella and her husband Stanley Kowalski in a poor neighbourhood in New Orleans.

Blanche and Stanley take an immediate dislike to one another. The conflict between them heats up as Blanche attempts to convince her sister to leave her abusive husband. Tensions mount with tragic consequences for Blanche.

Deirdre Davis

Deirdre Davis

Deirdre graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 1991. She has worked for many theatre companies including the Tron Theatre, Perth Rep and 7:84 Theatre.

Deirdre first worked at Pitlochry Festival Theatre in 1999, when she appeared in The Summertime Is Come with Jimmy Logan and Edith McArthur. Since then, she’s returned to Pitlochry several times appearing in The Magistrate, Heartbreak House, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and The Monarch Of The Glen, Blithe Spirit, Heritage, North and South and was also a part of Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Winter Ensemble 2021.

Deirdre has appeared in consecutive Pitlochry seasons, most recently in Sherlock Holmes: A Study in Lipstick, Ketchup and Blood, Private Lives, Noises Off and Little Women during the Summer 2022 season and 2022 Christmas production Peter Pan & Wendy.

Outwith Pitlochry Festival Theatre, in recent years she has played Nora in Rona Munro’s Bold Girls at the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow and spent 14 years playing Eileen Donachie in BBC Scotland’s River City.

Deirdre is delighted to return for Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Summer Season 2023.
Jack Ward

Jack Ward

Jack was born in Gloucester in 1998 and trained as an actor musician at Guildford School of Acting – graduating in the summer of 2020.

Since graduating, he has worked in both theatre and television, appearing as an earnest suitor to Miss Edwina Sharma in an episode of the second series of the award-winning Netflix period drama Bridgerton and also in three outdoor productions with the London Touring Players in the New Forest: ensemble roles in The Comedy of Errors and Ghost Stories; and as Kai in The Snow Queen at Beaulieu Abbey for Christmas 2022.

In his final year at GSA, he played the role of Mr Dussel in the BA Actor Musicians’ moving production of The Diary of Anne Frank and his early theatre experience includes several productions with the National Youth Music Theatre: Brass (2016), Billy the Kid (2017) and Superhero (2018).

Jack is a woodwind specialist. He began playing clarinet, aged 7, and over the years he has extended his repertoire to include soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, oboe and flute.

This is his debut season at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.

Keith Macpherson

Keith was born in Edinburgh and trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and L’École Jacques Lecoq.

Kirsty Stuart

Kirsty is a native Scot. She trained at Drama Centre London.

Kirsty is currently touring in Frantic Assembly’s Othello.

Kristin Weichen Wong

Kristin Weichen Wong

Born and raised in Taiwan, Kristin trained in Musical Theatre at National Taiwan Normal University Graduate Institute of Performing Arts. Previous training includes a BMus in music performance at National Taipei University of Education.

Kristin is also a dancer/dance artist based in Edinburgh and London, actively engaging in creative works span across multi-discipline of performing arts.

Some of Kristin’s credits include The Legends of Mountains and Seas musical (Taiwan Tour) as Tiannu Ba (the daughter of God), 8 Femmes musical (NTNU) as Gaby, Scumbag (Commercial Music Video) as dancer/choreographer, Youth Musical Theatre with Taipei Symphony Orchestra as musical director/ choreographer, and most recently in Avenue Q musical as Christmas Eve in 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Oblique, Open, Filtered, Framed site-specific performance as dancer (Fruitmarket Gallery Edinburgh).

Kristin is thrilled to play her part in the 2023 summer season, marking her debut at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
Marc Small

Marc Small

Marc Small is a London born actor who trained at Salford University achieving a Degree in Media and Performance. He was a finalist on the BBC New Comedy Awards in his final year of training.

Marc has appeared in numerous theatre productions, He played Tom Robinson in To Kill A Mockingbird (Manchester Theatre Awards Best Supporting Actor Nominee), Horatio (Hamlet),

Ebenezer Scrooge (A Christmas Carol), Crooks (Of Mice And Men) Robin Hood (Robin Hood) Dex (West End musical Daddy Cool) and DS Glenn Branson (Dead Simple).

He has appeared in popular TV shows such as The IT Crowd, Jonathon Creek, The Bill and The Sooty Show; And recently appeared in the Amazon Prime film The People We Hate At The Wedding with Ben Platt. He is currently part of the ‘Movie Nights In’ promotion for ITV, featuring in the Western Spoof advert Standoff At Sundown.

Marc has performed in a diverse range of shows at Pitlochry Festival Theatre including The Crucible, Heritage, North and South, Barefoot in the Park, Around the World in 80 Days and most recently Private Lives and Noises Off.
Matthew Churcher

Matthew Churcher

Matthew Churcher grew up in Desborough, Northamptonshire. He studied at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama: BA Acting (Collaborative & Devised Theatre) course, graduating in 2014.

Also a professional drummer/percussionist, Matthew has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, BBC, and toured both Nationally and Internationally. Recently his band Citadel opened the BBC Introducing Stage at Latitude Festival.

Matthew has also directed a number of productions, including Simon Stephens One Minute at the Waterloo Vaults, which was nominated for 3 Off West End Awards.

Nalini Chetty

Nalini Chetty

Edinburgh born Nalini, studied Drama at Bristol University before training at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She then lived all over the UK before returning to Scotland to perform in David Greig’s acclaimed Yellow Moon and later to join the cast of BBC1 Scotland’s River City. She has since worked extensively in TV, theatre and radio.

Recent theatre credits include: Standby (STC), Cyrano (Citizens Theatre/NTS), Ma, Pa and The Little Mouths (Tron), A Safe Place and The Archivist (NTS/ Oran Mor)

TV and Film: River City (BBC1), Karen Pirie (ITV), Crime 2 (Buccaneer/ITV) Justice (LA productions/BBC), Taggart (STV) and Hula (Braw Films). In 2023 she will appear in Gregory Burke’s new ITV Drama Six-Four as DS Shereen Rahman.

Radio: Puellae, A World Elsewhere, Angel of Market Street and The Return (all BBC R4) Venice Preserved (BBC R3).

As a writer Nalini has written regularly for the BBC, CBeebies and C4. Original credits include: Puellae and The Infinity Pool (both BBC R4) Finding Noor (Ankur/Citizens) and Kontomble; The Shaman and The Boy (Oran Mor/NTS/ Traverse).

She also presents BBC Scotland podcast The Reveal which can be found on BBC sounds.

Nalini is delighted to be part of the Pitlochry company this year and would like to thank her husband Alan for ‘holding the fort’ with her ‘wee yins’ Luca and Mara-Kate.
Oliver Cookson

Oliver Cookson

Oliver trained in London at the Central School of Speech & Drama.

He has spent much of his working life making TV drama programmes behind the camera.

Since moving to Edinburgh, however, you may have seen him as David Bliss in Hay Fever, Pastor Greg in Hand to God, various roles in Travels with my Aunt, Major Courteney in The Ladykillers, Edward Stone in 2016 Fringe production of JB Priestley’s The Rose and Crown and a member of the choir in An Edinburgh Christmas Carol at the Royal Lyceum in 2019.

Oliver is delighted to be joining the company in Pitlochry this summer.
