Revisit the ‘80s with Footloose the story of Ren McCormack, a teenage boy from Chicago, who moves with his mother, from Chicago to a small farming town, after his father abandons them. Ren is prepared for the adjustment to his new high school, but what he isn’t prepared for is a ban on dancing by the local preacher, Revered Shaw Moore
With the help of Ariel, the Reverend’s rebellious daughter, and Willard, a country hick who becomes his best friend, Ren convinces the Reverend to let the teenagers dance, and in the process helps the town to heal from a tragedy that affected them all.
Footloose is essentially a love story. Love between Ariel and Ren, the complicated love between parents and children, and the spiritual love between the religious leader of Bomont and his flock of congregants.
A co-production between Pitlochry Festival Theatre and the New Wolsey Theatre, the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score, augmented with dynamic new songs, Footloose celebrates youth, love and life.
