Set to fantastic songs from world-renowned Scottish band The Proclaimers, Sunshine on Leith is both a funny and moving play about Davy and Ally, two Edinburgh natives returning to their hometown after serving in war-torn countries overseas, who are questioning what ‘home’ really means.

A fantastic feel-good story from Stephen Greenhorn, with a feature film adaptation in 2013, this is returning to Pitlochry Festival Theatre for 2023 as a fresh new production of an audience favourite which is sure to delight yet again.

Robbie Scott

Robbie is an actor from the North East of Scotland and is a 2021 graduate from Arts Educational Schools London (BA Hons) and also trained at The Dance School of Scotland, Glasgow.

Credits include Will in GROUP PORTRAIT IN A SUMMER LANDSCAPE (Lyceum/Pitlochry Festival Theatre); Dickon in THE SECRECT GARDEN (PFT); Tulsa in GYPSY (PFT); Peter Pan in PETER PAN AND WENDY (PFT); Dick Whittington in DICK WHITTINGTON (Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford).

Workshops include Renton in TRAINSPOTTING. Credits while training include GUS THE THEATRE CAT in CATS and SHALFORD in KIPPS. Robbie is delighted to be playing in another production at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
Finlay Bain

Finlay Bain

Finlay trained at Birmingham School of Acting. He wrote, produced and performed in ‘Living a Little’ with his theatre company Riot House Theatre at the Vault festival, where it won the Origins Award for Outstanding New Work, and then transferred to The King’s Head Theatre, to then to Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Theatre credits includes ‘The Straw Chair’, at The Finborough Theatre, ‘Trainspotting Live’ UK Tour, ‘The Flouers o’ Edinburgh’ at The Finborough Theatre and National Theatre of Scotland’s touring production of ‘Blackwatch’.

He has recently starred as the lead role in the feature film, ‘Meet You in Scotland’ produced by Reel One Entertainment

Alyson Orr

Alyson Orr

Alyson is delighted to be back at Pitlochry Festival Theatre having appeared in ‘Sunshine On Leith’ and ‘Noises Off’ last year. She recently performed in ‘Bend It Like Bertie’ at the Westgate Theatre, Las Vegas and has worked with many theatre companies including: Scottish Opera, Borderline, Byre Theatre, Theatre Workshop, Wildcat, Jersey Opera House and the Glasgow Pavilion Theatre, appearing in numerous productions there.

She also played the role of Kate Fulton in the much loved show, ‘Rikki and Me’ alongside Gerard Kelly and Tony Roper. Her TV and film credits include: ‘River City’, ‘High Road’ and the BAFTA award winning film, ‘One Life Stand’.

Alyson is one third of the jazz vocal harmony group The Swingcats. They have toured internationally, withshows in Dubai, Marrakech and Monte Carlo and haveperformed with some of the UK’s top big bands, most notably the BBC Big Band and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. The Swingcats have also appeared on ‘Friday Night Is Music Night’ and ‘Big Band Special’ on BBC Radio 2. Alyson composed the music for the musical comedy, ‘The Wedding Planners’ and is currently writing a new musical called ‘The Coven’. She recently released an album of her instrumental compositions entitled, ‘Coming Home’.

Trudy Ward

Trudy was born in Nottinghamshire and is a 2022 graduate of the BA Actor-Musician course at the Guildford School of Acting.

Trudy was a member of Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s summer ensemble, appearing as Electra/Agnes in Gypsy, Martha in The Secret Garden, and Vee in To The Bone. She is delighted to be returning to Pitlochry for the winter!

Callum Marshall is an incredibly talented actor, known for his captivating performances and his dedication to his craft. Born and raised in Yorkshire, Callum’s passion for storytelling and his love for the arts led him to pursue a career in theater.

Callum’s journey in the performing arts began with his training at the esteemed Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. There, he immersed himself in the world of acting, honing his skills and developing a deep understanding of the craft. His time at the conservatoire provided him with a solid foundation and allowed him to grow as a versatile and skilled actor.

One of Callum’s notable achievements was his portrayal of the ‘Beast’ in “The Choir Of Man.” This role showcased his ability to bring complex characters to life, earning him praise and recognition for his talent. Callum’s performance captivated audiences and left a lasting impression.

Currently, Callum is enchanting audiences at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre with his role in “Sunshine On Leith.” This heartwarming musical, set in Edinburgh, tells a story of love, friendship, and family through the timeless songs of The Proclaimers. Callum’s incredible talent and stage presence make him a perfect fit for this production, allowing him to effortlessly embody the spirit of the characters and leave audiences moved by his performance.

James Dawoud

James Dawoud

James grew up in the small, scenic town of Strathaven where he discovered his creative streak. In 2015 he moved to Glasgow to begin training as a pharmacist but, after discovering that this wasn’t quite the right means of channeling his creative energy, he soon decided on a new path and a couple of years later graduated with an MA in Musical Theatre from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2019.

His credits since include; “Moorcroft – development” (Tron Theatre), Bertram “All’s Well That Ends Well” (The Show Must Go Online); “Cinderella” (Perth Theatre – Pantomime); Vocalist/Resident Musician (TUI Sensatori); “Lena” (The Beacon Arts Centre); Aladdin “Aladdin” (The Beacon Arts Centre – Pantomime) and he will soon be making his screen debut on a popular Cbeebies TV series. He also took on his directorial debut during The Show Face Festival directing “The Wreck of Them” by Bradley Scott. This is James’ first show at Pitlochry Festival Theatre and he is excited to be sharing this heartfelt musical with the theatre’s wonderful audience this festive season.
