Mark Holden was born in Glasgow. Whilst at school he developed his drawing and painting techniques and after leaving Edinburgh University he began a career in Sales & Marketing. After a period of illness a few years ago, Mark began to rediscover his interest in painting once again and he has now established himself as a full time artist. Mark has successfully sold work through a number of galleries in Scotland and has undertaken commissions to clients’ requirements. Artists who have inspired him include Peploe, Monet, John Lowrie Morrison to name a few. Mark uses colour and texture in his paintings to support his compositions. Based in Fife he has the perfect access to several of his favourite subjects like St Andrews and Elie, which he tries to capture in all their variety. His work has been exhibited at the Torrance Gallery, Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy Art Gallery & Museum, Jerdan Gallery in Crail and at the Eduardo Allessandro Gallery in Broughty Ferry amongst many others.
