MARY BAILLIE was born in Glasgow, and now lives in South Lanarkshire. Always a keen amateur artist, a turning point was submitting a work entitled ‘Return of the Blueblack Hussar’ for the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition in 2013. The work was accepted by the RA and shown, and included in the illustrated catalogue of selected works. This inspired her to ‘take up her brushes’ again. After over 20 years in Communications and Marketing Management in further education and latterly, local government, she took early retirement in 2014 and is now pursuing developing her art career. With a wide variety of subjects, she enjoys working with a range of media and styles of painting.
A keen tennis fan, early illustrations by her are held by the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s Museum. She is currently producing a series of works in oils. This will be Mary’s second year of exhibiting at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
